In Netflix if you go into your account settings there one of the first points is test participation. This should be off.

@stevimigaku what is "Test participation in Netflix"? Haha. I am using Edge, which runs on Chromium. I can try Chrome but I haven't found an extension that behaves differently between the two yet. Let me find something on YouTube to try.

        EDIT:
        YouTube appears to work fine.

Ok that sounds a bit different. Generally the issue is that once recording is enabled, the audio distorts or gets out of sync.
Have you tried with other shows on Netflix, or YouTube? You are using Chrome and Test participation in Netflix is turned off?

Yes, the extension isn't open source.

@stevimigaku it's possible that I am still misunderstanding this.

If I go to the show with recording disabled, run the parser and everything, and then click attempt to create a card it tells me I need recording to be enabled.

At this point, I enable recording and click to create the card and it records the previous line of audio (though the rest of the info on the card is correct).

Disabling/re-enabling the recording feature doesn't change this behavior.

It really seems to be an off-by-one error when scanning to the correct timestamp in the video, as it is always, consistently the previous line. No matter which line I click on, I get the previous line's audio in full.

This extension isn't open source, correct? I'm curious about how this could be going wrong in the code as I've never made something on the web where timestamps are treated differently across browsers/devices.

When you try to create a card, the extension prompts you to enable recording. And users with this problem mentioned that only enabling it to create a card and disabling it afterwards helps.

@stevimigaku can you go into a bit more detail behind what you mean here by turning it off and back on?

The problem with this bug is that only a fraction of users get it and that irrespective of the OS they use. That makes it hard to reproduce the problem and if we cant reproduce it, its hard to fix. Also seems to be mostly a Netflix problem.
A lot of users with this problem just turn recording on to create cards and turn it off afterwards, which seems to work. But we are on it and try to find the clue print.

@kieranmigaku any progress on this? Debating getting a refund until this bug is fixed as this is the primary reason that I paid for it.

                    Thanks!

@sdnii Can confirm the recording is out-of-sync on Japanese Netflix. Adjusting the recording padding doesn't help. Youtube works like a champ, though.

@sdnii thanks for the bug report. We will look into and try to replicate the issue to figure out what's going wrong 👍
