Browser extension appears to block typing in unrelated apps

I am running into a weird issue where in some unrelated developer apps (the ones I've found anecdotally are Whimiscal (whimsical.com) and the Hasura Console (hasura.io)), if I have the Migaku extension enabled, then if I interact with text inputs in these apps in certain ways, then I lose the ability to type anything unless I first highlight some text. It's bizarre. Here's a video demonstrating it:

Any thoughts on why this might be the case? For now I'll just be disabling it unless I actually plan at that moment to study Japanese since otherwise it gets in the way of my work.
