Anki Crashing constantly since upgrading on the new add on
-
I have several problems since upgrading on the new version.
- I have the newest Chrome extension
- I have the newest Anki Version
- I upgraded the Migaku Add on in Anki, the Chrome extension is connected
When creating a card, or when doing basically anything that requires the dictionary, Anki Crashes. Also the cards that I manage to create with the dictionary (card type Korean by Migaku) are blank in the front.

@wholesalegerbils I also have this issue, but when I change the default driver to ANGLE, after restarting Anki the video driver is suddenly set to "Software".
I don't know if this has anything to do with the hardware of my laptop? (I have an HP Spectre X360 [2020]) -
@wholesalegerbils
looks like that worked! Successfully used a hotkey without crashing after changing the video driver; thanks for the tip!!
Now to sort out Chiaramell's crashes
... could be a similar issue?

@tappuribaketsu Not sure about the OP's issue, but I had the same issue you were having. Your fix might be as simple as going to tools->preferences->change video driver from OpenGL to ANGLE like the below screenshot shows.

I've been experiencing this as well since updating everything last night.
I specifically notice Anki crashing when I use the hotkey to lookup a highlighted word in the dictionary, regardless of whether or not the dictionary is already open - it seems like the hotkey locks up Anki and requires a force restart; I haven't tested the other hotkeys for crashes yet.
I did have one instance of Anki freezing when creating a card, and the card was blank upon force quitting and reopening Anki - but since adjusting the auto-fill settings on the card creation tab, I've been able to create more cards without crashes (so far at least). But the dictionary-lookup hotkey is still a consistent issue.
