Mandarin example sentences sometimes do not actually include word
-
Hi, I’m currently testing the Migaku trial. I tried it on this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VlrSqOMWvsI picked these subtitles to make a flash card:
- 2019年1月20号
- 阿伦在台北的大直等你喔
- 赶快来报名吧
Migaku picked these words as the target words:
- 大直
- 喔
- 趕快
- 報名
These are the example sentences:
-
英国[Ying1 guo2;地名]大使[da4 shi3;名词]要求[yao1 qiu2;动词]直接[zhi2 jie1;副形词]会见[hui4 jian4;名词]总统[zong3 tong3;名词]。

報名[bao4 ming2;动词]時間[shi2 jian1;名词]已經[yi3 jing1;副词]過[Guo4;时态助词]了[le5;时态助词了]。
The registration period is already over.
The first three sentences contain both “大” and “直” in that order, but do not contain “大直” as a word.
Furthermore, the dictionary definitions do not match the target words:
- 【喔[o1;叹词]】ō ★★★★★
I see/oh - 【喔[o1;叹词]】wo ★★★★★
(particle) marker of surprise, sudden realization, reminder - 【趕快[gan3 kuai4;副词]】gǎn kuài ★★★★★
at once/immediately - 【報名[bao4 ming2;动词]】bào míng ★★★
to sign up/to enter one's name/to apply/to register/to enroll/to enlist
Specifically, 大直 is in the target words but not the definitions, and a second definition of 喔 has been added to the definitions, but there are still only three example sentences between them (I’m not sure what the expected behavior is here since I think these two definitions are basically the same, but I wish the UI were more clear about which definition(s) correspond to which sentence(s)).
-
Hi, this is happening with quite a significant portion of my example sentences, somewhere in the ballpark of 50%. It is really very inconvenient for Mandarin learners. Can you please escalate this? It seems like it shouldn’t be very hard to fix.

@stevimigaku Yes I am using Tatoeba Example Sentences
-
@anon-fn
You are talking about tatoeba example sentence, right?
I think there was a reason why it not only shows sentences that contain 大直, but also just 大 and just 直. But Ill have to ask @LucasMigaku -
Note: 大直 is a location (in Taipei), which probably explains the pathological behavior seen here:
