Switching to the new Anki system from the old one
-
Hi all. I originally posted this in the Discord, but saw that this is where we're supposed to post now.
Is there a guide for switching to the new Anki add-on system from the old one? How do I make sure I don't lose everything from the System with all the separate add-ons and such? Should I uninstall all those first? Or just install the new one? Will I lose my settings in the old ones? What about things like legacy-legacy stuff, like old MIA Japanese format cards (these are my reviews from the N5/N4 deck). All my fears like this are part of the reason I've put this off for so long, but today, Migaku Dictionary stopped working for me, so I figured now was the time.
Anyway, I can't find any documentation about upgrading from the old system, so I'd really appreciate anything here.
Also, I upgraded to Anki 2.1.49. I get this banner now - I assume I shouldn't click Update? Seeing as Migaku is designed for 2.1.49. It is weird that it says to upgrade to 2.1 though - I'm on 2.1 Is this expected?

If you already are on the new Anki version, the old addons stopped working anyway. So you can just install the new Anki Addon. You don't have to uninstall them necessarily, but you don't need to keep them either.
And yes you will lose your settings, but that's ok because the new addon has a completely different style so you cant transfer them anyway.
Old cards will still work, but you will have to set them up once. This is all covered here https://youtu.be/LFQszL6chfQ
